Taking advantage of the clear skies we’ve had this week, I went out for a couple of walks this week in search for brutalist architecture here in Brighton. This style of architecture is not as common here in the south as it is in the mid and north of Great Britain but still, there are a few interesting buildings like the ones I’ve found during the last couple of days:
Hove Town Hall & Norton Rd Car Park.
Windsor House, Law Courts & University of Brighton Grand Parade Campus.
Brighton National Spiritual Church.
Funny enough, these buildings are all close to each other both in Hove and in Brighton. (Brighton & Hove are two towns unified into a city) so tackling the below freezing temperatures wasn’t too bad.
I love to photograph the effects of light during bright, clear days like this one, winter is my favourite season for this style of photography, unfortunately, here in England sunny days are very limited during the cold season.
I’d never put any of these newsletters behind a paywall, It doesnt feel right; however, I appreciate your support so if you’re feeling generous, why don’t you get yourself a copy of my zines or a print? Head over to my website clicking on the button below:
Until next time!
Fascinating shapes, textures and shadow play - that winter light is so crisp and clean. What made you decide to seek out Brutalist architecture in particular? (I'm glad you did)

Nice set! I really like the one where the biker is entering the shadows.
