Comrades, this is the story of a masterful piece of architecture from the beginning of the 20th century in Mexico City and none other than the house and studio where Diego Rivera and Frida Kahlo spent their time as a married couple.
Thanks Susanne! That was part of my pilgrimage as well, to be with, capture and absorb the colours of my city. By the way, what other colour would Frida's house be other than cobalt blue like her father's house! 😃
I bet Diego would have liked a carmine red on his house to match his communist views and expressions.
The colors, the natural fence, O'Gorman's staircase without handrails - I love it all. Thank you for for this lovely glimpse at such an important place for art history! Looks like it is very well taken care of too... Do you think you will return one day when renovations are complete to tour the inside?
Thank you Diana! You're right, the place is very well looked after. I visited the inside while Inwas there but I didn't find it as interesting visually as the outside details. For example, Frida's house is completely empty, there is just a table with a few pictures on display but nothing more.
Love these images, Xavi! I've always been curious about Diego and Frieda's abode and you've captured details I've never seen in magazines or in website. So thank you for sharing this! Well done. The colors are fantastic.
So interesting. Thank you for sharing. The photographs of the architectural details are excellent! Love the colours!

Ah thanks a lot Alvaro, really appreciate it!
Love the primary colors and the geometry!
Thanks, they work so well together don't they?

Thank you for this super enjoyable tour, comrade. Loved the images.
🙌 Many thanks Pierre François!
Fascinating story and the photographs are stunning ...
Thanks Richard, there are lots more interesting facts about the house and the artists' relationship, I suggest digging deeper into it's history.
Absolutely loved this post!
Thank you Shital!
Glorious colours.
They're so vibrant, that's something we don't get here in the UK. Everything is so monochromatic!
